As promised, here's a random selection of photographs from my recent trip to Kolkata in India! The reason why I visited was to attend a conference on Urban Changes and Culture, alongside other young people from Germany, Africa, India and England. I was selected along with another member of CreateVoice, the young people's forum at the V&A, so it was pretty darn special to be representing both the UK and the museum itself. My time there was spent in discussions focusing on the role of cultural institutions in our local cities and how they can be shaped in the future, discussing issues with experts from around the world, along with going on walking tours and visiting museums, with of course a little free time inbetween! I was unfortunately rather ill throughout the whole trip and visiting Kolkata was quite the culture shock for me, but it was a great experience and I'm so happy I was chosen to attend. It was amazing to meet so many people from different cultures and so fun to spend time with such a lovely group of people.
If you'd like to see some more photographs you can take a peek here, plus if you have any questions regarding the trip or conference please do ask away! Love, Jazzabelle.

Goodness me, you're always ill, aren't you? And I'm sorry to say you look worryingly thin on that picture..
ReplyDeleteno, i'm not always ill, actually. neither do i look 'worryingly thin'. i'm a naturally slim person, who is clearly healthy, so i find it very insulting that you would say such a thing. the cut of the dress along with the pattern may appear to make me look slimmer, along with the angle of my body, but i'm the same size here as i am in my previous posts.
DeleteThis really pisses me off. I have always been skinny and have spent my life having people think it's appropriate to ask if I'm eating properly (which I do) or if I've lost more weight (which I haven't) or that I'm 'worryingly thin' (f**k off!!). Why do people think that's ok? If you and I, Jazmine, were size 16 then strangers wouldn't dare say 'hmm, you're looking a bit tubby' or 'are you eating properly?'. No, instead we'd be called 'real women'. The double standard in respect of skinny people has got to stop! I think you look amazing, I met you and you're a naturally skinny girl who looks even more beautiful in person. And as for getting ill - EVERYONE gets sick when visiting India! xxx
Deleteoh what an amazing experience. it looks lovely. i'm glad you enjoyed yourself despite the cold.

These photos are absolutely gorgeous! I love your stripey dress :) xx
ReplyDeleteYou always sound like you're writing for a brochure or a class presentation or something. I want to know more about you and what you actually think! It doesn't seem like it's actually you talking how you would in real life.
ReplyDeletemy writing style is more formal in this post as the conference i went to was rather formal so i wanted to portray that fact. i know that in my posts i write in a very honest way and anyone who has met me knows that i write how i would talk in real life. writing has never been my strong point, so whilst i somewhat appreciate your constructive criticism, i can only do my best.
Deletei love every picture. must have been amazing there. congrats on the V&A pick!
ReplyDeleteOhh, it looks like an incredible trip, and how exciting to be selected! <3 And I am completely besotted with your striped dress; what a beauty!

hello ally. thank-you! i'm quite a creative person so i enjoy spending time focusing on the composition and angles of my shots, plus i've been practising photography for many years. i also edit my photographs slightly, too. the only thing i can suggest is practice, along with trial and error! x

Hi!
ReplyDeleteJust came across your blog and voted for you for the asos comp! :)
I have just been reading through your posts and was just wondering how you partner with retailers e.g. bertie/urban outfitters etc. I've always been interested to know. Do they just find your blog out of the blue and contact you? x
hello! thank-you very much, that's so very kind! yes, brands tend to come to me asking if i'd like to visit their store, attend a press event or feature their clothes on my blog..etc. the reason being is because perhaps they like my photography, writing or my style and think that my blog fits in with the style of their brand. it's lovely to work with such great companies! i hope that helps. x
Deleteyes i love this post very good of this.thanks for this post.replica handbags
